Congratulations to Fabian L., the Boys &
Girls Club s
Youth of the Year. Chosen
at our annual dinner on December 1,
Fabian was one of four youth to present
their story to a panel of judges. Fabian
was selected in one of the tightest
contests we have had.
Fabian
is a member of the East Fresno Club and
has been for five years. He
has lived in poverty most of his life,
sharing a bedroom with one bed for he
and his three younger brothers. In the
midst of that difficulty, Fabian has
blossomed into an outstanding young
person and leader in the East Club. His
goal is to become an airline pilot.

New Boys & Girls Club Open
On December 13th, the seventeenth
Boys & Girls Club in Fresno County became a
reality. El
Dorado opened its doors. Formerly
under the operation of the Fresno Parks and
Recreation department, El Dorado was forced
to close due to city budget cuts. But
a donor stepped forward who was willing to
provide funds for a Boys & Girls Club
there. In
addition, the people of Wesley United
Methodist Church, whose property is next to
El Dorado, were eager to help. Through the
generous help of many, the pre-fabricated
building has been painted, carpeted and had
new equipment installed. El
Dorado is located at 1343 E. Barstow,
directly behind the Church.

challenges. We
have had to furlough our staff and close
our Clubs one day every month in order
to save expenses. Every
time our Clubs are closed we are missing
an opportunity to influence youth to

Clubs Closed December 27-31
All of our Clubs, as well as
Administrative Offices, will be closed
December 27-31. We
