Keystone Kids
Win Major Award
at Conference |

The Keystone
Clubs of Fresno
County received
the National
Project of the
Year Award for
the Pacific Region
at the recent
Keystone
Conference in Phoenix,
AZ. Their
project was
voted the best
of over fifty
that were
submitted.
Keystone Clubs
are for teenage
youth who are
members of a
local Boys &
Girls Club.
Keystone Club
members learn
leadership
skills and put
them into
practice in the
National Project
and other
community
service venues.
Six of the
Keystone Clubs
within the
Fresno County
Boys & Girls
Clubs joined
together to
produce a
project focusing
on helping youth
stay in school
and graduate.
The project
centered around
an overnight
visit to Fresno State
University, and
a Career Day
held at the
Zimmerman Club.
These events
were planned,
organized and
led by the
youth. More than
sixty teens
participated. |
SUCCESS
Conference
a
Great
Success

More than 80
youth
attended the
SUCCESS
Conference
at Zimmerman
Club on
Saturday,
October 29th.
The theme of
the
conference
was school
discipline
and was
hosted by
Youth
Leadership
Institute.
The students
learned
about their
rights,
responsibilities
and
resources
should they
find
themselves
in a
negative
situation at
school.
Agencies
that work
with youth,
judges, and
police
officers
were some of
the
presenters.
One youth
said he had
been
expelled
from 3
districts!
He was
excited to
attend this
conference,
which he
feels gives
him a second
chance.

Coats for Kids
in full swing |

The Boys & Girls
Club and several
local motorcycle
clubs are again
providing "Coats
for Kids" this
holiday season.
Drop your coats
off at the
Wilson or
Clawson
motorcycle
dealerships
through November
27th, or
at Manchester
Center (Corner
of Shields &
Blackstone) on
November 26 &
27th. On behalf
of the kids,
thank you.

AAA promotes
Bicycle Safety
at Clovis Club |

|

AAA of Northern
California, Nevada and Utah donated
$1,500 to the
Clovis Club to
promote bicycle
safety. AAA
hosted an essay
contest in which
students
demonstrated
safety
awareness. Ten
winners were
awarded a new
bicycle with a
helmet. Thanks
on behalf of the
kids to AAA. |
