Keystone Kids Win Major Award at Conference

 Keystone Regional Conference 2011

The Keystone Clubs of Fresno County received the National Project of the Year Award for the Pacific Region at the recent Keystone Conference in Phoenix, AZ. Their project was voted the best of over fifty that were submitted. Keystone Clubs are for teenage youth who are members of a local Boys & Girls Club. Keystone Club members learn leadership skills and put them into practice in the National Project and other community service venues. Six of the Keystone Clubs within the Fresno County Boys & Girls Clubs joined together to produce a project focusing on helping youth stay in school and graduate. The project centered around an overnight visit to Fresno State University, and a Career Day held at the Zimmerman Club. These events were planned, organized and led by the youth. More than sixty teens participated.

SUCCESS Conference a Great Success

YET Success Conference Fall 2011

More than 80 youth attended the SUCCESS Conference at Zimmerman Club on Saturday, October 29th. The theme of the conference was school discipline and was hosted by Youth Leadership Institute. The students learned about their rights, responsibilities and resources should they find themselves in a negative situation at school. Agencies that work with youth, judges, and police officers were some of the presenters. One youth said he had been expelled from 3 districts! He was excited to attend this conference, which he feels gives him a second chance.
