 Kate_Henry

Kate Henry has been appointed Youth Engagement Team Manager. The Youth Engagement Team, funded by a grant, is part of the Building Healthy Communities initiative. It brings together many agencies in our community that work with youth, in order to coordinate activities and develop partnerships that help young people. The goal, according to Henry, is to create a better school environment for students, and encourage youth to be engaged in civic activity. Kate formerly served as Executive Director of the Down Syndrome Association.

In partnership with Comcast, the Boys & Girls Club of Zimmerman created this program for kids ages 14-18 at the Zimmerman Club. Students commit to a one year, six hour per week, training session, learning to work with software and hardware, and developing people as well as computer skills. The goal of the program is for students to receive a Cisco Certificate, the first step toward international IT certification. Thirteen students are currently involved in this project.
