The 10th
annual
Clovis
Boys &
Girls
Club
Black
Tie and
Boots
Gala was
held at
the
Veteran's
Memorial
Hall on
May 14th.
The two
hundred
people
in
attendance
heard
from one
of the
youth
members
of the
Clovis
Club, as
well as
from
Aaron
Hernandez,
Club
Director.
A
wonderful
banquet
dinner
was
provided
by
Pardini's
and many
merchants
and
individuals
donated
to the
silent
and live
auctions.
When the
tally is
completed,
the
event is
expected
to raise
$50,000
for the
Boys &
Girls
Club of
Clovis.
Our
thanks
to all
who
planned,
donated
and
participated
in this
great
event.

Girls
Basketball
Season
Concludes
with
Tournment |
|
The
first
annual
Girls
Basketball
season
concluded
with a
tournament
at the
El
Dorado
Boys &
Girls
Club.
The West
Boys &
Girls
Team was
the
overall
champion.
Ages of
the
players
in the
leagues
ranged
from 6
to 13.
Parents
attended
the
tournament
to cheer
on the
girls.
After
the
games,
everybody
enjoyed
pizza
and
cake.

West
Fresno
Block
Party
|
|
The West
Fresno
Club, in
collaboration
with the
EOC
Youth
Build,
the
Sanctuary
SafePlace
Youth
Shelter
and
Bringing
Broken
Neighborhoods
Back to
Life,
hosted a
block
party
and
health
and
wellness
fair
April
20th.
The
purpose
was to
bring
resources
to the
community
as well
as to
unify
against
violence
and
criminal
behavior.
More
than
thirty
organizations
participated
and
approximately
800
people
attended.
There
were
bounce
houses,
carnival
games,
and
raffle
prizes.
The
Southwest
Police
District
helped
support
the
event.

Boys Night
Out/Girls
Night Out |
|
|
The annual
Boys and
Girls Nights
Out were
held on
consecutive
Friday
nights in
April. More
than 60
youth
participated
in each
night, and
each young
person was
matched with
an adult
mentor for
the evening.
The purpose
of the event
is to give
each young
person an
adult role
model who
will take an
interest in
them. The
evening
begins with
dinner where
the youth
and their
mentors
learn to
know each
other. Then
follows an
evening of
games,
competitive
activities,
and fun
events
capped off
with ice
cream for
all. If you
have never
been a
mentor, we
welcome you
to consider
this for
next year. |

The
Semi-Annual
Board
Meeting |
|
|
The
Semi-Annual
Board
Meeting was
held at the
East Club on
April 12th.
This evening
event brings
together the
Board of
Directors,
the Board of
Trustees,
and the
Administrative
and Club
staff. The
Youth of the
Year (YOY)
representative
from each
Club was
present and
were
introduced.
The winning
Youth of the
Year, Fabian
Leyva from
the East
Club, gave
his winning
speech. All
YOY winners
received a
certificate
and a plaque
from Boys &
Girls Clubs
of America.
The top
three
winners
received
gift cards
from Target
and free
pizza from
Me N Ed's
for a year.
In addition,
Fabian Leyva
received a
$3,000
scholarship
from Me N
Ed's.
Finally, the
Fresno City
Council
declared
April 12th,
2011, as
Fabian Leyva
Day in the
city of
Fresno.
Council
member Sal
Quintero
made the
presentation
on behalf of
the City
Council. The
evening was
sponsored by
Me N Ed's. |

Tournament |

along with
the Boys &
Girls Clubs,
is
announcing
the 3rd
annual Golf
Tournament
to be held
at the Ridge
Creek Dinuba
Golf Club
Saturday,
June 25th,
2011.
Sponsorship
opportunities
are
available.
Starting
time is
10:00 AM.
Due date for
registration,
which
includes
green fees
and cart,
gift bag,
breakfast
and lunch
along with
drink
tickets, is
